as seen on CNN...

Some of you may have caught the story that CNN ran this past week on the production. They featured a bunch of our background and the set in The French Quarter and out on the Mississippi River. I've can't find a link to the web page where they have the video, but here are few shots of what you might have seen...

And here is where we will be spending the next few Sundays. It is quite a test of my tollerance of heights.

Off to set, more to come soon... -G

a little taste of the Crescent City...

So we just finished week one of a month of six day weeks. Liz came to town last week and has been working with us on set. We are starting to settle in to a bunch of our work on the Ferry which involes a lot of background and a bit of time going in circles in the port.

Not to drop back in time too much, but in trying to catch up, here are a few pics from Morgan City ( about two hours outside of New Orleans) We were there two or three weeks ago (I've lost track) It was a cool little city and our set, which was a 45 min drive from the hotels, was in the middle of the Bayou. There was an amazing amount of wildlife out there including bald eagles, owls, and many other types of birds, as well as the giant mosquitoes. Luckily, we had two weeks of cold weather which helped to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

When we returned to NO it was the final weekend of Mardi Gras, just before Fat Tuesday, and we went out to film some of the parades, and let me just say, this town knows how to have a parade!

The French Quarter is beautiful, and our time filming down there has been fantastic. I have become a huge fan of the architecture and I am now determined to figure out how to install gas lanterns at home...

More to come soon.

First post from New Orleans...

So if I've figured this out you should see the New Orleans skyline.

So this is where I've been for the past seven weeks. Hopefully, if things here ever slow down, I'll lead you all down a visual journey of my adventures here. But now the hour is late and 3am is coming all too soon, so I'll just leave a couple more shots that I think are pretty cool...

Till next time.. -gk

"Helzer Skelter" Airs Tonight on Court TV

Imagine if the Napoleon Dynamite kids had committed the Manson Family killings. That't the gist of the very bizarre and dark story behind the true-crime doc "Helzer Skelter"(edited by yours truly), which airs tonight at 10PM EST on Court TV's "The Investigators." Don't watch during dinner.

Hey, and I just noticed that "Pretty Poison," another show I did with producer Tom Murray in '04, is being rerun Sunday at 11PM EST.

This used to be the bathroom

You never appreciate what you have until it's gone, the fella says. We heartily concur, especially when it comes to. . . the shower. And. . . the floor that used to surround it. Well, there are always the garden hoses. . . the fish pond? . . . oh, yeah, and Frank's place three blocks away. Thanks, Frank!

Editing "Helzer Skelter"

Liz snapped this still of me in the middle of onlining "Helzer Skelter," the latest collaboration with Tom Murray (and offline edited excluisively chez Casa), at Plaster City in Hollywood. The show airs on Court TV. . . this Thursday. But other than that, no rush. The show, which tells a very true and very, very dark story, is not one for the kids. . .

The Blog is Alive

I know it ain't much to look at, but if you saw this blog when I first put it up you'd understand my sense of accomplishment. Despite proclivities in other areas of digital media, I haven't dabbled much at all online. I know a little bit of html but understand precious little newfangled (and I'm sure that dates my knowledge) CSS, styles, XHTML tags etc. I'm learning. Slowly. And it's kinda fun. So far I've figured out how to insert images and change fonts and colors. Oooooh. Aaaaah. But if anybody out there in blogoland could offer some tips or point me in the direction toward a fuller understanding, I'd sure appreciate it!

Meanwhile, I'll keep posting pictures of the dog and the cat (and Liz) as if I have nothing better to do.
