War in Iraq: Four Years and Counting

I'm sure it's not necessary to repeat details of the massive, wasteful, and bloody human sacrifice this so-called war of choice has been.

A bit of recommended reading. . .

Congressman and Marine John Murtha's take on where we stand now, at the four year mark.

Author and historian Barry Lando puts this war in the context of the recent history of the long-suffering people of Iraq. Read it and ask yourself (a question repeatedly drummed into me by Mr. Congeniality), "What in the Hell did the Iraqi people ever do to us?"

Anyone still wondering about the real reasons behind the invasion? This op-ed might be very enlightening. Mission accomplished?

Finally, take some time and read what Seymour Hersh, who broke the My Lai Massacre and Abu Ghraib, says about an alleged shift in policy that has the administration funneling secret funding of Sunni (and likely Al-Qaeda-connected) terrorist groups against growing Shia power in the Middle-East. Yes, that's secret support of the ones who we're supposed to be fighting. Don't reach for your tinfoil hat, just read it. And consider that it's time for us to stop meddling in the region's ongoing power struggle. Enough damage has been done.
